For reference I found a 10w 980nm diode laser but I still have no idea how well it will do on foam.. And at nearly $1900US, I'm unlikely to find out anytime soon .. For that price you could almost get an ebay ~50w laser (not a little 40K).. I forget if I marked down here that I did end up making a needle cutter..
